2006 Lagniappe - Paso Robles

Zinfandel/Syrah/Grenache/Mourvedre

$28.00

Lagniappe (lan-yap) is a wine rich and robust in style, with layers of black currant and chocolatey blackberry interlaced with clove and black pepper. This full-bodied wine finishes with firm tannins and a complex aftertaste.

Barry Epperson whose family is from Louisiana, suggested the name, “lagniappe” (pronounced lan-yap). It is a French-Louisiana word that means an unexpected gift or benefit. We thought it was perfect for this zinfandel biased blend with minor amounts of syrah, grenache, and mourvedre. It is an unorthodox combination of many of the grapes we are growing-- and a delighjul surprise.
